Living in Cologne

Cologne is a vibrant, international city with more than a million inhabitants.  It is most famous for its iconic Gothic cathedral.  The city has a history going back 2000 years when it was founded by the Romans.

There is no shortage of things to do or see, whether you are interested in its historic sights, museums and art galleries, concert venues or shopping and nightlife.  Cologne is also well-known for its carnival celebrations and Christmas markets.

Apart from walking or even bicycling, public transit is the way to get around. From Cologne's main train station or its airport, other places in Germany or in Europe can be explored very easily.  The ICE, a high-speed train, takes you to the airport in Frankfurt in just an hour.
